qrcode.es en ELISAVA

Last tuesday we were invited to give a class at graphic design master for editorial projects at ELISAVA.

Thaïs and Christian (thank you both) asked us not to get too focused on technical issues like readers, standards, etc. but to give a quick presentation on this technology and show as many uses as possible for the editorial world.

So we did tried.  In our behalf it was a very interesting chat to prepare and the practical excercises were also very encouraging beacuse of the good attitude of more than 50 students and teachers. It made us all think about the next generation books, magazines, newspapers, etc. which will probably “grow” some QR-Codes very soon.

We really hope we presented them a useful  asset for their future jobs and projects.

QR-Codes are already in college. Next stop: they will hit the road!

PS: As usual we didn’t take photos :(

1st conference qrcode.es in Alicante

Qrcode.es bunch moved last 9th Jannuary to Alicante with the assignment to give a lecture on the QR-Codes subject in the Camon Center (a New Technologies Center).

The talk was divided in two parts. First, we tried to explain: what a qrcode is, which was its origin and evolution, how do they work, which are the most common uses and a little ‘bits and pieces” related to this kind of codes.  And the second part was an interactive game, based on qrcodes distributed all around the city.

The video is avalaible on the camon website but only in Spanish.  In case you’re just interested on seeing our faces, it works the same.

TED-Talks. Jan Chipchase on our mobile phones

Today we recommend one of TED Talks. They started some years and the whole conferences are being published under the sponsorship of BMW. Jan Chipchase talks about the future and usage of mobile technology from a philosophical perspective.

It may sound too much (it’s not), but this is without a doubt the most important post in this blog, that’s why it’s the only off-topic we have. If you were to choose one thing out of this blog remember: you have to watch these conferences.

Besides the recommended conference there are many more that make you desire to be born with more intelligence.

Thank you BMW! If I ever have the money I’ll buy a car or yours, or maybe a key-chain
